It all began about a decade ago, when Romina Habermann saw a void not only in her own closet but in the shoe marketplace.  She wanted sandals that blended her love of bohemian chic and sparkly sophistication into one perfect pair.  So, with that vision in mind, Skemo Shoes and Bags was born.

Growing up in Argentina, passion for shoe making ran in Romina’s blood.  Her father, Jorge Habermann, owned a large shoe factory in Cordoba so from an early age she watched local craftman turn leather and rubber into shoes-of-the-day.  When Romina wanted to create her own shoe brand, she partnered with her mother and father in Miami, Florida.  The result combined their knowledge of traditional craftsmanship with her instinct for modern style to introduce a line which is both comfortable and chic.

Fast forward to today…  Skemo Shoes and Bags has established itself as one of the most beloved shoe brands around.  Found in stores across the America’s Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East, Skemo sandals are embraced by women who love their unique combination of nature’s colors and textureswith a hint of glam style.  In fact, the name Skemo is a modern term for someone who embraces a mix of cultures, colors and styles.

Each of Skemo’s collections is personally designed by Romina.  She gathers inspiration for designs and collor palettes from extensive travels to exotic destinations across the world – places like India, Turkey, Africa, Indonesia and the Philippines.  Colors like coral, camel and turquoise come from seeing sunsets and oceans in those far-off places.  Her journeys also inspire the use of many natural elements such as sea shells, crystals, wood and mother pearl.  On a recent trip to Indonesia, for example, Romina found breath taking tiger shells that became the center piece of the most recent campaign.

“I design for women who are individuals, women with personal styles that exude confidence wherever they go”, says Romina.  “The Skemo woman loves the colors of the ocean, the sparkle of sand, and finds true beauty in natural elements like shells, crystals and even wood. But make no mistake about it, as much as she is a natural beauty, she still loves looking and feeling sexy in everything she wears”.

Each new campaign includes a variety of sandal designs complementing countless tastes and looks, from flats to comfortable wedges.  The latest collection premiers a new line of comfortable jute and cork wedges.  Skemo also creates matching handbags for each of their lines, offering women the perfect accessory to their Skemo style.
